Make-ahead amazing. Though our champagne Jell-O shots take only minutes to make, they do need to set up in the refrigerator for at least four hours. We love Jell-O shots because they are the ultimate make-ahead holiday cocktail. Once you put your jigglers in the refrigerator, you’re free to take care of other party essentials. No need to stress about mixing drinks right before your guests arrive or after the party has started.
Upon your first sip (slurp!), you’ll vow to make these wiggly jiggly cocktails for all your festive occasions. You can customize the flavor and color for year-round celebrations by swapping in different flavors of Jell-O mix. You can also rim the glasses with edible glitter or coarse-grain sugar in coordinating colors.
Kid-friendly party tip. Jell-O shots aren’t just for grown-ups. Let’s face it, kids flip for the wiggly jiggly stuff. You can make these Jell-O shots without the champagne for a non-alcoholic kids party drink. Simply, replace the champagne with an equal amount of ginger ale or 7-Up and follow the recipe as directed. Rimming the glass is optional.
Bartenders note: Edible gold stars are available at craft stores in the cake decorating section and can also be purchased online. Edible stars and glitter may give desserts a fancy look but, when used to rim glasses, they add a dazzling touch that makes you look like a cocktail pro.
