This year turn your sweet potato casserole into Homemade Sweet Potato Tots with Fry Sauce! It’s not overly sweet like the marshmallow stuff, it’s the perfect balance of sweet, savory, crispy, and salty. Everyone will love the playful twist on this classic Thanksgiving sweet potato side dish!
Ingredients
- 3 cups (3 medium sized) sweet potatoes, cubed
- 1 and 1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese, separated
- 3/4 cup bread crumbs, separated
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
Instructions
- Peel and then cube the sweet potatoes. Measure to make sure there are 3 cups.
- Boil the sweet potatoes until mostly done, but not all the way.
- Drain the potatoes.
- Pulse the sweet potatoes a d couple of times and then mash slightly with a fork. Add in 1 cup of the cheese, 1/2 cup of bread crumbs, and all of the spices. Stir together.
- Roll out pieces of the dough with your hands and then roll the dough balls in the remaining 1/4 cup bread crumbs.
- Bake at 425 degrees F for 12-15 minutes, turning them once in between the baking time.
- Remove from the oven and serve immediately with fry sauce.
- To make the fry sauce, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, vinegar, and seasoned salt in a bowl. Adjust seasonings as needed.
