Jessica Gavin’s homemade orange-cranberry sauce recipe

Fresh cranberries are rarely eaten raw because they are mouth-puckeringly sour on their own. To sweeten up the sauce’s flavor, I use orange juice, honey, and a whole cinnamon stick.

In a saucepan, simmer the berries down in a citrus syrup until you hear the sound of the berries popping come to a stop. This process takes about 20 minutes, then you’ll have a naturally-sweetened cranberry-orange sauce.

ALSO TRY: Vanilla bourbon-balsamic cranberry sauce

The great part about this type of condiment is that you can make it a couple days before you need it, then just place it in a sealed container and store until Thanksgiving Day.

We all know how hectic it can be making turkey, ham, and all those other delicious sides in one day. So why not get the homemade cranberry sauce out the way, leaving yourself time focus on the other elements.

This cranberry-orange sauce is a nice twist on the traditional sauce recipe. Are you ready to top heaping spoonfuls on your turkey?
