7 Easter games your kids will love

Let’s face it — while we all love having the kids around for a few extra days over the Easter holidays, it can be difficult to think of ways to keep them entertained. While it can be tempting to turn to screen time, games are a great option that help kids both have fun and burn off a little steam (making bedtime so much easier). Here is our roundup of Easter games that you can play with your kids this year.

1. Capture the Egg

A holiday twist on the classic Capture the Flag game that we all remember from summer camp, Capture the Egg is one of those Easter games that can be played both inside or outdoors. Divide your group into two teams and give each team a color. Then, give each team a few plastic eggs in their assigned color (about five to eight eggs should do the trick, depending on how long you want to keep them occupied).

The goal of the game is to get past the other team’s defensive line to capture their eggs. Whoever collects all of the other team’s eggs first, wins!

Age group: Ages 7+
Materials needed: 10–16 plastic eggs in at least two different colors

2. Egg rolling race

If it’s good enough for the White House, it’s good enough for us. Yep, this fun Easter game is played at the White House’s annual Easter celebration, and it looks like a blast.

Hard-boil some eggs, enough so that each child has an egg to roll. Then, use some tape or string to mark off a straight-lined race track. The objective of the game is to roll your egg along the straight line using a spoon, the winner being the first one to reach the finish line.

Kick it up a notch and get everyone to push their eggs using only their noses instead!

Age group: Ages 5+
Materials needed: Some hard-boiled eggs, spoons and some tape

3. Easter craft station

There’s one thing that all kids have in common: They love getting their hands dirty. Let your kids have some fun while exploring their creativity and their senses with an Easter-themed craft station.

Of course, you can have the traditional dyed Easter eggs, but think outside the box. Check out these ideas for some sweet spring-y Easter coloring pages, adorable yarn bunnies and other Easter crafts your kids will love.

Age group: Varies, there are crafts for any age
Materials needed: Craft supplies, could be as easy as pen and paper

4. Bunny hop

Everyone loves a good old-fashioned sack race. Make it a bunny hop by getting everyone to wear bunny ears on their head and a cotton ball on their bums. First one to the finish line wins this exciting Easter game.

Age group: Ages 3+
Materials needed: Pillowcases, bunny ears, cotton balls

5. Rabbit tails

Gather a bunch of multicolored pom-poms and stick some double-sided tape to them for instant rabbit tails. Make an Easter game out it by setting a timer and having everyone run around, trying to pin as many rabbit tails on their friends as possible before time runs out.

Whoever has the most tails by the time the buzzer goes off loses the game.

Age group: Ages 5+
Materials needed: Pom-poms and tape

6. Easter scavenger hunt

We all love hunting for eggs on Easter morning, so why not transfer that excitement over to one of our favorite Easter games with an Easter-themed scavenger hunt? Fill an Easter basket with goodies and hide it somewhere in your home or backyard. Then, fill tiny plastic eggs with tips on how to find the basket, and leave the eggs lying around. The winner finds the treasure, obviously!

Age group: Ages 6+
Materials needed: Easter basket, paper, plastic eggs

7. Egg toss

This is one Easter game that even the littlest of littles can get involved in — plus, it’s incredibly easy to set up. Have the kids stand a certain distance away from an empty basket and try to throw some eggs inside (plastic, hard-boiled or even chocolate will do). The aim of the game is to get as many eggs in the basket as possible.

Age group: Ages 2+
Materials needed: Basket, eggs
