Brown sugar-citrus hot toddy

Hot mulled wine with cranberries and orange

‘Tis the season for cozy, hot drinks on chilly days. Nothing warms the insides like a sip of whiskey in this brown sugar-citrus hot toddy

It has all the comforting flavors of fall and of Thanksgiving, all wrapped up in one steaming mug of holiday goodness! And bonus, the simple ingredients makes it a snap to stir up after a laborious Thanksgiving meal. A splash of orange juice and cranberries add a bright fruity burst, but it’s not too sweet.

Brown sugar-citrus hot toddy

Yield 2 servings


  • 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 orange
  • 1 lemon
  • 1/3 cup bourbon whiskey
  • 2 lemon (wedges)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • Cranberries, for garnish


  1. Stir brown sugar, hot water, lemon and orange juice in a small pitcher until brown sugar dissolves.
  2. Stir in bourbon and divide between 2 mugs.
  3. Garnish each with a lemon wedge and cranberries.
